Round 4 F1 driver power rankings: Advance Australia Fair as Oscar continues his rise

It’s hard not to be a bit excited right now as an Aussie F1 fan, especially when you have Oscar Piastri showing just how good he is and what he is capable of. It’s also exciting given how that is reflected on these power rankings, with many other places changing as well.

Before we get to them, the usual disclaimer. You know the drill, these are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.

So with that in mind, let’s get to the rankings!

10. Yuki Tsunoda (+1)

Points in a Red Bull! Yay! Overall it was a decent weekend for Yuki, given the car was rubbish for both him and his teammate. He’ll take a whole bunch of confidence from that and look to setup the remainder of his season with the team.

9. Pierre Gasly (+4)

An amazing weekend by Gasly who continues to impress and mature early on in 2025.

8. Lewis Hamilton (+1)

It was actually a good race by Sir Lewis, making positions and racing solidly to claim his best main race finish for the Scuderia. Did it warrant Driver of the Day? No. But he’ll take any positives he can at this stage of the season.

7. Kimi Antonelli (-1)

Unlucky not to get more points, it was another solid weekend by Antonelli, who is fast becoming the breakout rookie of the 2025 season. He does have one challenger to that title…

6. Ollie Bearman (+2)

…and that is a man who I technically say isn’t a rookie given he raced three times last year. Still, by all classifications in 2025 he is a rookie, and he drove an incredible race to get a point after a poor qualifying. The fact he is sitting just outside the top ten of these rankings after being plum last after one round is astonishing. How much further will he rise? Watch this space.

5. Charles Leclerc (-1)

Feels somewhat cruel to drop him a spot given he drove a solid weekend, but he still is without a podium in 2025 while those above have multiple. That champagne will come soon Charles, don’t worry.

4. Max Verstappen (-3)

From the highs of Japan to the lows of Bahrain, Max did what he could to get the most out of the weekend. The fact he is still less than ten points off the lead in the Championship just proves how even on a bad day, he is always going to get the most he can out of that car.

3. George Russell (+2)

George has been very much in the background so far in 2025, but his solid form sees him secure another podium. That’s three out of four races he has been on the rostrum so far. A great start for the Brit.

2. Lando Norris (-)

Solid recovery effort by Norris after an unusually poor qualifying and a false start put him on the backfoot on Sunday. Probably should’ve finished second, but he’ll take a podium that keeps him in the Championship lead.

1. Oscar Piastri (+1)

Pure dominance by Oscar all weekend. Keep it up, and Australia will be partying like it’s 1980 in eight months’ time.
