It wasn’t the double they would’ve wanted but McLaren can celebrate a double of a different kind in 2024. But how did the rest of the teams shape up in the final power rankings of the season?
Before we get to that, the usual disclaimer. If you’ve read these before, you know the drill. These are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.
So with all that in mind, let’s get to the rankings.
10. RB (-1)
From battling for sixth in the Constructors’ to simply petering off into nowhere, it was a tough ending for RB in 2024. They still had maybe the best looking car all year, so that’s something at least.
9. Williams (+1)
Alex Albon was only a position away from a point to end the season. Given that was a better performance than RB, they get to swap places with them at the end.

8. Kick Sauber (-1)
Might be a bit high for them still but given how Valtteri Bottas performed in qualifying and that during the race they didn’t look terrible, eighth is a good spot for them to end the year in based on how they finished the season.
7. Aston Martin (+1)
Points! Yes! But what an invisible and odd year for the team. Words can’t even really describe them in 2024. Yeah they finished fifth, but did anybody even pay much attention to them? Particularly in the second half? Such a strange year for a team that only has bigger and better things to come.
6. Haas (-)
You have to feel sorry for Haas. For most of the year they genuinely looked like the fifth best team, and at least should’ve solidified that into a sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. But a late haul of points form Alpine dropped them down, and the team ended up seventh overall. Still, considering many thought they would go all 2024 without a single point, it has been a great season for them.
5. Alpine (-)
Largely thanks to Pierre Gasly, this team went from nowhere to somewhere very quickly at the end of 2024. Remember this was a team that was so far behind at the beginning of the year, we wondered how they would even remotely get close to points. A remarkable turnaround for the French team.
4. Mercedes (-)
Such a yoyo season for Mercedes. After going winless in 2023, the team managed four in 2024 which on paper is a massive improvement. But considering they were runner-up in the Constructors’ Championship in 2023, it just shows that level of consistency dropped, and it was always hard to tell which Mercedes you were going to get at any race. And now with Lewis Hamilton departing, a new era for the team begins in 2025. Will be very exciting to watch.
3. Red Bull (-)
A rare occasion where the team with the Drivers’ Champion doesn’t win the Constructors’ Championship. An even rarer occasion that the team doesn’t even finish in the top two. This shouldn’t happen in Formula One, but what also shouldn’t happen is that a driver with the talent of Max Verstappen should exist either. He single-handedly made sure the team was able to still be battling at the top for the majority of the year, meaning he technically gets a place on both the team and driver power rankings. Amazing.

2. Ferrari (-)
Argh! So close! But so far. Yes, I’m speaking as a biased Ferrari fan here, but that hurts! So close to breaking that drought and two great drives from both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc nearly made it happen. But it wasn’t to be, and instead we enter that familiar “well there’s always next year” phase in the Ferrari fan cycle.
1. McLaren (-)
Congratulations McLaren. More than a quarter of a century after your last Constructors’ Championship, you’ve finally broken through to claim it once more. Deserved it despite a few hiccups over the season, and made a lot of long-suffering fans very happy heading into Christmas. Bravo.
