Round 18 F1 team power rankings: Papaya ruling a little more at the top

Some close back and forth between Ferrari and McLaren slipped away in Singapore as the Papaya team found a significant gap up the front once more.

Before we go over that and how it affects the rankings, it’s disclaimer time. If you’ve read these before, you know the drill. These are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.

So with all that in mind, let’s get to the rankings.

10. Kick Sauber (-)

Just like Red Bull were permanently locked in first position on this list a season ago, it seems as though Kick Sauber have the same distinction at the bottom of this list in 2024. They also are running out of time to finally breakthrough for some points. Tick tick team…

9. RB (-)

On a weekend that deserved a strong result for the team, particularly on side of the garage, it turned out to be a disappointing time in Singapore for Team RB. A fastest lap though was one shining light.

8. Alpine (-)

How can you even begin to describe 2024 for Alpine? Woeful at the beginning, resurgent in the middle and now just seemingly nowhere. That about sums it up.

7. Aston Martin (-)

Yeah Fernando Alonso got points, but that was more down to Alonso being Alonso than the car itself. Stuck in seemingly nowhere right now.

6. Williams (-1)

So close to points once again, the team are enjoying a nice little patch of form at the moment. It’s great to see, and hopefully it will continue in the final few races of the season.

5. Haas (+1)

Stuck in a bit of a battle right now with Williams for the final spot in the top five, but Haas get the chocolates this round due to the fact they actually scored points.

4. Mercedes (-)

Keep doing what they can do to score points. Remember how they were winning races only a few rounds ago? Seems like forever now.

3. Red Bull (-)

Once again a certain Dutchman continues to keep this team alive and scoring points. Luckily for them they have a sister team to help steal points from their rivals as well. Otherwise things would be even worse for them right now.

2. Ferrari (-)

After the highs of the last few rounds it was a bit of a fizzer for Ferrari in Singapore, a race which they won last year. Points were still solid, but they need more if they are to seriously challenge for the championship.

1. McLaren (-)

Sometimes I have to look at the calendar to see what year it is to fully embrace that McLaren are back to regular winning ways and I’m not 11 years old again when it was last normal to see them do so. Amazing to think how much they’ve turned it around and continue to do so.

What do you think of this list? Which order would you currently rank the teams in? Let me know your thoughts below!
