Round 18 F1 driver power rankings: Topsy-turvy rankings change once again

Another round where the drivers change it up at the top in both the race and the power rankings. Just how on earth are we keeping up?

Before we find out just how topsy-turvy things are, let’s get the disclaimer over and done with. You know the drill, these are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.

So with that in mind, let’s get to the rankings!

10. Lewis Hamilton (-)

It really is interesting to live in a world where Lewis Hamilton scoring solid middle points is a good thing. That is the world we live in right now, and also a world in which hopefully will change for all Team LH fans when he switches to red in only a few races time.

9. George Russell (-2)

Feel bad to drop George down on this list given he was solid in Singapore for where the team were at, but there are just too many around him that did better for him not to fall. Sorry George.

8. Carlos Sainz (+1)

Solid and unspectacular for Carlos. Good news is he didn’t crash! Bad news is that 12 months ago he won this race, and this year he looked nowhere near doing so again.

7. Alexander Albon (-2)

Only drops down based on not actually finishing the race. Outside of that small little factor he had a great weekend in a car that seemingly is having a blast right now. Is he driving even better than he was because he has a teammate capable of putting it up to him each weekend? Possibly. Do we love to see it? Absolutely.

6. Nico Hulkenberg (new)

Nico continues to put his hand up as maybe the driver of the season. A great race once again by the German delivered more valuable points to the team. Think he’s regretting his choice of moving to Kick Sauber next year? I’d say he is…

5. Franco Colapinto (+1)

Three races into his career and Franco is showing why Williams were smart to promote him. So close to more points and a great drive against a driver and team that shouldn’t be fighting with a Williams. Incredible to see.

4. Max Verstappen (-)

Max once again shows his skill in a car that continues to show how bad it is getting. Has to keep doing that if he wants to keep his championship.

3. Charles Leclerc (-1)

A real shame for Charles in Singapore based on his strong recent form. If he wants to continue to be in the championship hunt he can’t afford weekends like this. Let’s hope it was a one off.

2. Oscar Piastri (-1)

Couldn’t match the pace of his teammate all weekend and finished 40 seconds behind him in the race. A late charge to try and reel in Verstappen for second fell by the wayside, but third and another podium was still a solid result.

1. Lando Norris (+2)

Right back to the top after a dominant win. That championship is getting closer and closer to his reach.

What do you think of this list? Which order would you currently rank the drivers in? Let me know your thoughts below!
