Round 17 F1 team power rankings: Battle at the top continues to heat up

Another race with intrigue and mystery means that the power rankings are once again filled with exactly the same levels of excitement. How will it change things on this list? You’re about to find out.

Before you do, the usual disclaimer. If you’ve read these before, you know the drill. These are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.

So with all that in mind, let’s get to the rankings.

10. Kick Sauber (-)

Will Sauber get points this year? It’s not looking good. A real kick in the teeth for a team set to become a works manufacturer in less than 15 months’ time.

9. RB (-)

Bit of a silent weekend from the team. Yuki Tsunoda was the victim of a first lap accident, while Daniel Ricciardo just raced in no-man’s land all weekend.

8. Alpine (-)

See above for RB, except both cars for Alpine managed to finish.

7. Aston Martin (-)

Similar to the two teams below them on this ranking, except Fernando Alonso managed to get some points for Aston Martin.

6. Haas (-1)

Harsh to drop them a spot given they scored a point, but the point came through circumstance and their dropping of position comes mainly due to Williams climbing the rankings.

5. Williams (+1)

The great thing about their double points finish in Azerbaijan is that they were on for double points even without the crash between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez. A great weekend for the team.

4. Mercedes (-1)

It always seems to be Mercedes who benefits the most from a late crash doesn’t it, particularly the Mercedes of George Russell. They basically were nowhere near the front all weekend, so a podium is a strong result.

3. Red Bull (+1)

Gets the vault over Mercedes as although they didn’t get a podium in Azerbaijan, they had the pace to get one and should’ve been on it if not for the late crash between Perez and Sainz.

2. Ferrari (-)

Pole position and a probable win meant a strong weekend for Ferrari off the back of their win in Monza. If this form continues, they will very much be in the fight for the Constructors’ right till the end.

1. McLaren (-)

A rare race in which the good pace they have actually worked to secure them a win. Even more solid was the fact that Lando Norris was so far back after qualifying and he still managed to finish fourth. Very solid indeed for the team that now leads the Constructors’ Championship.

What do you think of this list? Which order would you currently rank the teams in? Let me know your thoughts below!
