Round 15 F1 driver power rankings: Lando Lando Lando Super Lando

Similar to the team rankings, it’s been a while since we’ve been able to rank the drivers with plenty happening since we last did so back in round 12. So how will that change the order in the driver power rankings?

Before we find out, let’s get the disclaimer over and done with. You know the drill, these are all subjective and based mainly on my (incredibly smart) opinion mixed with form and on-track results, meaning it is a generally subjective list that holds no real weight except for the large basis of fact I like to think I can generate.

So with that in mind, let’s get to the rankings!

10. Fernando Alonso (-1)

A solid run to land a point. Pace dropped away after earlier in the weekend but a point was a great result for the Spaniard.

9. Sergio Perez (new)

Given it’s been a couple of races since these rankings have been done, it may seem odd that some drivers are listed as ‘new’. But given Sergio realistically appeared since the last rankings, he technically has dropped down since the last race. He is doing what he can in the car, which is all that can be asked of him. At the end of the day he isn’t Max Verstappen, and never will be.

8. Pierre Gasly (new)

A great weekend by Gasly secures more points for the team as they continue their tough midfield fight. Always looked likely to score after a strong start and some great driving in the race.

7. Carlos Sainz (-)

Carlos drove an amazing race to move up five places to finish fifth. Doesn’t quite move up further in the ranks given those above vaulted up high in the last couple of races, but is right on the cusp of moving up further.

6. George Russell (-2)

Would’ve put some money on George to finish on the podium on Sunday if I was a betting man, particularly after his great performance in Belgium before the break. However, the pace just went away, and for George there was no moving forward, only backward. A shame given how well he has been driving of late.

5. Lewis Hamilton (-2)

Similar to George, the difference with Lewis was that he made progress during the race and drove incredibly well on the Sunday. Given that his qualifying was so bad on the Saturday it ended up only being for the minor points. But it still showed just what we can do on his day.

4. Charles Leclerc (+6)

A massive jump for Charles given that the last time we did these rankings he was only in tenth, and a lot has happened since. Still, it was a fine drive by him on Sunday to secure a surprise podium.

3. Oscar Piastri (+2)

Another driver who only gains on this list is based on how long it has been since our last edition of the driver power rankings and his form in the races we have missed. Was unlucky to perhaps not be on the podium on Sunday, but fourth was still a solid result for him.

2. Max Verstappen (-)

The man just keeps performing above the car, showing just how good he is. Sad for his home fans that he couldn’t get the win, but all he has to do is remain consistent to keep his title lead alive and he will remain on a path to his fourth World Championship.

1. Lando Norris (-)

All the songs around the Zandvoort Circuit across the weekend celebrated Max Verstappen. The chants. The crowd. Everything. But with a few word changes, you can easily fixate it back to one Lando Norris, who drove arguably the best weekend of his career to take his second race win. Seems odd saying that right? But it finally came, and there will be plenty more where that came from.

What do you think of this list? Which order would you currently rank the drivers in? Let me know your thoughts below!
